Job summary
Caterpillar is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Performance & Application Engineer for its Mossville, IL facility. The role focuses on electrical integration, modeling, simulation, and design optimization of medium- and high-voltage power electronics across electrified machine platforms.
You will influence architecture, component selection, and validation while collaborating with controls, electrical, thermal, and validation teams to deliver integrated power electronics solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, Systems Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Experience with MV power electronics and high-voltage systems.
- Experience with modeling and simulation to support engineering design and component selection.
Responsibilities
- Develop electrical models and simulations to predict MVPE performance across operating conditions.
- Lead component selection, sizing, and integration for MVPE systems including power semiconductors, DC-link capacitors, and bus structures.
- Translate machine requirements into electrical architectures and interfaces for MVPE systems across teams (controls, mechanical, thermal, validation).
- Analyze machine duty cycles, transient conditions, and thermal loading to ensure proper size and application of power electronics.
