Caterpillar is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to support the Electric Power Division in Madison, WI. The role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing generator control switchgear systems, delivering automation and control solutions for power systems from concept to commissioning.

You will engage in retrofit and new-system projects, work with cross-functional teams, and contribute to field performance and customer training.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with dealers and factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform technical risk assessments and support field performance of projects.
• Provide technical support to AES Sales and Product Support Center teams, including escalations.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses timely.
• Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and system operation.
