Job summary

The City of Pompano Beach is seeking an advanced professional-level accountant to join the Treasury Division of the Finance Department. You will perform independent accounting duties and assist in revenue collection activities for the City.

Responsibilities include supervising clerical accounting tasks, preparing journal entries, bank reconciliations, and coordinating with state and local agencies. This full-time role requires strong Excel and Word skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field.
• Experience in general or municipal accounting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise clerical accounting tasks related to billing, revenue, collection, and records.
• Prepare journal entries and bank reconciliations; resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
• Prepare sales tax returns, schedules, and financial reports.
• Coordinate with state, county, and local agencies.
• Process documents for input into automated systems and respond to account status requests.
• Assist external auditors.
• Perform related duties as required.
