Job summary

Kleinfelder, a Forbes' Top Employer for Engineers in North America, is seeking a Senior Municipal Engineer to join its multidisciplinary civil and environmental team in a leadership role. You will collaborate with CAD Technicians, construction staff, and office personnel to deliver public works projects, preparing detailed reports, plans, and cost estimates to keep programs on track.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering and an Iowa PE license or be eligible

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years of civil engineering design experience preferred/desired.
• Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.
• Experience in roadway, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water distribution design desired.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare or modify plans, specifications, construction schedules, permits, and cost and quantity estimates for public works projects.
• Work with Construction Observers/Resident Technicians during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing projects within budget and on schedule.
• Client contact including attendance at board or council meetings.
