Job summary

MTRCC in Clanton, Alabama, is seeking an experienced Underwriter to manage the multifamily underwriting process and coordinate performance from application through closing. The successful candidate will have strong Excel/modeling skills, 7+ years underwriting experience, and the ability to mentor junior staff while traveling nationally to inspect properties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience with 7+ years underwriting or related experience, including multifamily inspection training.
• Strong Excel and modeling abilities; experience with taxable, tax-exempt, and preservation product types.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to mentor others and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and manage the multifamily underwriting process to ensure loans meet investor guidelines and commitments are issued timely.
• Determine loan sizing and overall risk assessment before and after application.
• Interview borrowers and property managers to collect critical property, management, and borrower data.
• Review subordinate debt documents and regulatory agreements per program requirements.
• Coordinate with originators to select optimal deal structure and resolve issues.
• Interact with Investor Representatives (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac) about terms and waivers.
• Inspect properties in accordance with investor guidelines (travel nationwide).
• Review third-party reports required by investors; complete underwriting narratives and committee packages.
• Collaborate with processing team to monitor submissions and communicate with deal teams.
