Job summary

M&T Bank is hiring a Deputy Chief Underwriter in Clanton, Alabama. You will lead underwriting for multifamily and healthcare transactions, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with agency guidelines and investor requirements.

Travel nationwide for property inspections and coordination with investors will be required. Strong leadership and thorough knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA processes are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years' agency multifamily underwriting experience, incl. 2 years' leadership.
• Or a combined minimum of 12 years' higher education and/or agency multifamily underwriting experience incl. 2 years' leadership.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and manage the multifamily underwriting process per investor guidelines.
• Review loan sizing and overall risk assessment prior to/after application.
• Interview borrowers and property managers to obtain critical details.
• Review subordinate debt documents and regulatory agreements per program.
• Work with originators to determine deal structure and resolve issues.
• Interact with Investor Representatives (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD) regarding terms.
• Inspect properties according to investor guidelines; travel nationally as needed.
• Complete underwriting narrative and committee package.
