Job summary

Hornig Companies seeks highly skilled, full-time Maintenance Technicians to respond to work orders, prepare units for new move-ins, and perform preventive maintenance across our Minneapolis/St. Paul portfolio of historic brownstone and mid-century properties.

We value quality repairs and thoughtful updates that preserve architectural integrity. Pay ranges from $28 to $40+ per hour, with senior specialists earning the upper limit to maintain internal equity and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years maintenance experience
• Multi-housing experience preferred
• Valid Driver's License and ability to meet car insurance requirements
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
• Willingness to learn and work on rotating on-call schedule

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair apartment maintenance issues (e.g., plumbing leaks, electrical lighting, fixtures)
• Perform preventive maintenance across assigned properties
• Repair building components while preserving historical integrity
• Communicate with residents in a caring, professional manner
• Contribute to maintenance planning and prioritization to reduce future issues
