Job summary

Victor Insurance Managers LLC seeks a Senior Underwriter to launch and grow a new Miscellaneous Professional Liability (MPL) program. You will underwrite, structure, and price MPL risks, shaping strategy and guidelines while driving profitable portfolio growth in a build-stage environment.

You will leverage deep professional liability expertise and strong broker relationships to develop appetite, collaborate with actuarial, claims, legal, and ops teams, and mentor junior staff as the program

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Underwrite complex professional liability risks within authority.
• Strong knowledge of MPL coverage forms, policy structure, rating considerations, and claims drivers.
• Experience building or scaling books of business.
• Established broker relationships and proven ability to develop business.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and portfolio management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable in fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
• Proficiency with underwriting systems, MS Office, and data-driven decision-making tools.
• 7 to 15+ years of underwriting experience in professional liability.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal MPL risks per guidelines and profitability targets.
• Evaluate submissions and underwriting data for risk acceptability.
• Select, price, structure, quote, bind, and manage MPL accounts with growth focus.
• Develop underwriting appetite, guidelines, coverage positions, pricing strategy, and workflow.
• Build relationships with wholesale and retail brokers to drive submissions.
• Negotiate terms and pricing with brokers while balancing goals and discipline.
• Monitor portfolio performance, rate adequacy, loss trends and industry developments.
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims, legal, operations, product, and compliance.
• Provide mentorship to junior team members.
• Assist with product enhancement and wording reviews.
• Maintain accurate underwriting files and data quality.
