Victor Insurance is seeking a Senior Underwriter to help launch and grow a new Miscellaneous Professional Liability program. This role will underwrite and manage a diversified MPL book, shape strategy, and support profitable portfolio growth.

Qualifications

• Underwrite complex professional liability risks within authority and guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of MPL coverage forms, policy structure, rating, and claims drivers.
• Experience building or scaling books of business, products, or programs.
• Established broker relationships and ability to develop business in a competitive market.
• Analytical, negotiation, and portfolio management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with stakeholders.
• Comfortable with a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and evolving priorities.
• Proficiency with underwriting systems, Microsoft Office, and data-driven decision-making tools.
• 7 to 15+ years of underwriting experience in professional liability, including MPL or adjacent E&O.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal MPL risks in accordance with program guidelines and targets.
• Evaluate submissions (applications, financials, loss runs, contracts) for risk acceptability.
• Select, price, structure, quote, bind and manage MPL accounts with disciplined growth.
• Partner with leadership to develop appetite, guidelines, pricing strategy, and workflow.
• Build and maintain broker relationships to drive submissions and market presence.
• Negotiate terms, conditions and pricing with brokers while balancing goals.
• Monitor portfolio performance, rate adequacy, loss trends, and industry developments.
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims, legal, operations, product, and compliance teams.
• Provide underwriting mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
• Assist with product enhancement, coverage wording review, and market analysis.
• Ensure adherence to internal standards, regulatory requirements, and authority protocols.
• Maintain accurate underwriting files and data quality in systems.
