Job summary

Lab37 Robotics is seeking a Senior Motor Controls Engineer to define how robotic mechanisms move and ensure reliable production performance. You will own motor and actuation decisions, guide controls implementation, and collaborate across mechanical, electrical, embedded, and robot software teams to validate performance.

You will develop and tune BLDC/PMSM and stepper control, evaluate control strategies, and drive robust, scalable solutions with clear documentation and telemetry for production

Qualifications

• Hands-on motor-control experience from development through production or sustained operation.
• Strong knowledge of motor physics, commutation, FOC, and feedback selection.
• Experience with real-time execution, encoders, and motor-driver interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and evaluate motor and drive options; implement and validate approaches.
• Develop, integrate, and tune BLDC/PMSM and stepper control with appropriate drives or custom firmware.
• Evaluate control strategies and quantify performance, cost, and reliability Tradeoffs.
• Work with cross-disciplinary teams on experiments and validated performance across conditions.
• Diagnose issues across controls, electronics, firmware, and mechanics; drive corrective changes.
• Create calibration tools, configurations, telemetry, and documentation.
