Job summary

Lab37 Robotics is seeking a Firmware Engineer to own embedded software for our custom robot boards, from hardware bring-up to production deployment and field support. You’ll work with electrical, motor-controls, and robotics software engineers to define interfaces, diagnose failures, and improve testability.

This hands-on role requires turning ambiguous problems into clear plans, delivering reliable firmware, and creating tools that teammates can reuse in production bring-up and diagnostics.

Qualifications

• Shipping microcontroller firmware for custom hardware.
• Experience with bare-metal or RTOS for embedded systems.
• Ability to bring up new boards and diagnose failures.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller boards and drivers.
• Collaborate with electrical, motor-controls, and robotics software teams on interfaces and testing.
• Implement real-time behavior and timing analysis across subsystems.
• Define contracts between hardware and software components and ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Develop tests and diagnostics, and contribute to CI and release workflows.
• Document design decisions and troubleshooting procedures.
