Job summary

Advanced Mechanical Technology in Watertown, MA, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and maintain electrical subsystems for motion platforms, including motors, drives, encoders, and power electronics, and to review schematics with contract manufacturers.

You will support embedded firmware interactions, assist with control tuning, BOM refreshes, and production support, with applicants from industrial automation, mechatronics, automotive, or robotics encouraged.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in electrical/electromechanical system design (motors, drives, encoders, actuation, power electronics, or feedback).
• Strong electronics foundation and closed-loop control knowledge.
• Ability to review schematics and coordinate with contract manufacturers on PCBAs.
• Experience with embedded firmware interaction and hardware integration.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain electrical subsystems for motion platforms.
• Support control system tuning and calibration.
• Specify and integrate motors, drives, encoders, and power electronics; review schematics with board houses.
• Support embedded firmware via hardware/firmware troubleshooting.
• Assist production with test fixtures, bring-up procedures, and compliant documentation.
• Manage BOM obsolescence and design refreshes for electrical subsystems.
