As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will assess conventional, FHA, and related loan files, ensure compliance, and collaborate with Mortgage Specialists to move loans through underwriting with accuracy and timeliness. Remote/hybrid options are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ DE Underwriting experience with conventional and FHA loans; USDA/VA experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with an electronic mortgage processing system is required (Encompass preferred).
• Must reside in a state where Equity Resources is licensed; excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pipeline daily and self-assigned preapprovals.
• Make underwriting decisions based on risk assessment using the 4 C's: Capacity, Credit, Collateral, and Cash.
• Deliver high-quality service with 24-hour turn times and timely updates to Mortgage Specialists.
• Maintain knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, and FHA overlays; knowledge of USDA & VA loan programs preferred.
• Analyze and report loan quality issues and monitor corrective actions.
• Uphold fraud prevention, confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Adapt to changing circumstances and adjust daily priorities as needed.
• Assist other Underwriters with daily volume and perform additional duties.
