Job summary

Mattermost, Inc. is hiring a Senior Mobile Engineer to own the mobile experience for defense, intelligence, and critical infrastructure teams. You will work with React Native and TypeScript, shaping cross‑platform architecture and delivering reliable, high‑performing mobile software in DDIL environments.

You will mentor others, ensure security and compliance, contribute to open source, and leverage AI tools to boost output while maintaining quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in iOS or Android development with the other platform understood
• Strong understanding of mobile architecture, SDKs, lifecycle, and networking fundamentals
• Experience building reliable mobile systems in constrained environments with offline support
• Strong mobile performance profiling and production debugging on real devices
• Experience using production data and telemetry to drive reliability improvements
• Ability to work across native and cross‑platform code bases
• AI fluency and use of coding agents to boost output without compromising quality

Responsibilities

• Architect the app for DDIL and constrained networks
• Improve reliability across connection lifecycle and recovery scenarios
• Own crash‑free and release health outcomes using telemetry
• Profile and improve performance across startup, networking, storage, rendering, memory, battery
• Own native‑integration boundaries between iOS and Android
• Maintain platform capabilities like push, background execution, secure storage, real‑time communications
• Contribute to mobile distribution and MDM deployment
• Diagnose production issues from traces and logs
• Make architecture recommendations balancing delivery and long‑term direction
• Mentor engineers on mobile architecture and platform best practices
• Uphold security and compliance standards for government and enterprise customers
• Contribute to open‑source codebase
• Use AI tools to increase engineering output while preserving reliability
