Job summary

Mattermost is seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer to shape and scale the core web platform for defense and critical infrastructure. You will lead architecture across Go backend and React/TypeScript frontend, ensuring security, reliability, and scalability while coordinating with security, compliance, and product leadership.

You will mentor engineers, implement REST/WebSocket APIs, and guide AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• : Minimum several years of senior full-stack experience in Go and React or equivalent stack.
• : Proven ability to own complex distributed systems end-to-end.
• : Experience with REST and WebSocket APIs and strong networking fundamentals.
• : PostgreSQL schema design, optimization, and high availability considerations.
• : Daily fluency with AI coding agents for scaffolding, refactors, and test generation, with good judgment when to rely on output.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical architecture and roadmap for Mattermost’s core web platform across Go, React/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
• Set org-wide standards for AI-agentic engineering workflows and secure design decisions.
• Lead internal tooling and testing infrastructure strategy to accelerate delivery.
• Own the testing strategy and quality bar across frontend and backend systems, via reviews and mentorship.
• Drive REST and WebSocket API design decisions grounded in networking fundamentals.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and product leadership on government/enterprise requirements.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise the technical bar across teams.
• Contribute to Mattermost’s open-source codebase.
