Job summary

Mattermost is seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer to set the technical direction for and scale its core web platform used in defense and critical infrastructure. You will drive architecture across Go backend and React/TypeScript frontend, shipping features that meet strict security, compliance, and reliability requirements.

You will own REST and WebSocket API design, mentor senior engineers, and shape technical direction for open-source components.

Qualifications

Senior full-stack development experience in Go and React (or a comparable stack).
Proven experience designing and owning distributed systems at scale.
Experience designing and consuming REST and WebSocket APIs with solid networking fundamentals.
Relational database experience including PostgreSQL and query optimization.
Hands-on fluency with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) for scaffolding, refactors, and test generation.

Responsibilities

Define and drive architecture and roadmap for core web platform across Go, React/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis.
Set org-wide standards for AI-agentic engineering workflows with accountability for security and design decisions.
Lead tooling and testing infrastructure strategy to accelerate delivery.
Own testing strategy across frontend and backend and mentor engineers.
