Job summary

xdesign is seeking a senior mobile engineer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering polished digital products for client organisations. You will focus on sharing business logic across Android and iOS using Kotlin Multiplatform while contributing to native Android work and maintaining high craft standards.

Join a mobile engineering team that builds digital products alongside a range of well-known client organisations, pairing iOS and Android squads so each platform delivers a polished yet distinct experience. As a senior engineer, the focus is on sharing business logic across platforms through Kotlin Multiplatform while contributing to native Android work. The wider practice emphasises craft, quality, and a collaborative culture where engineers help shape delivery as well as write code.

Responsibilities

• Build high-quality mobile applications with Kotlin Multiplatform, sharing business logic between Android and iOS.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code using Kotlin, Coroutines, and modern Android development practices.
• Create intuitive, responsive user interfaces with Jetpack Compose.
• Collaborate closely with designers, product owners, testers, and clients inside an agile, cross-functional environment.
• Champion engineering excellence, peer review, and continuous improvement across KMP and Android development.
• Explore and adopt better tools, such as automated code scanning, UI testing, and reusable shared libraries.

Requirements

• Strong native Android development experience and confidence with current Android frameworks and tooling.
• Hands-on experience with Kotlin Multiplatform, including how to architect shared codebases across platforms.
• A strong commitment to code quality, unit testing, and clean architecture principles.
• Comfort working in cross-functional teams and collaborating openly with non-engineering colleagues.
• Genuine enthusiasm for KMP and a desire to push mobile development practice forward.
