Job summary

Fanatics is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Mobile to lead Kotlin-based mobile development and drive cross‑platform architecture. You will own and evolve the mobile stack, collaborating with product, design, and backend teams to deliver scalable, high‑quality experiences.

You will mentor engineers, shape platform strategy, and help improve performance, reliability, and developer experience. The role is based in the UK/IE with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with mobile focus.
• Proficient in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) and/or Compose Multiplatform.
• Strong understanding of mobile architecture, performance, and scalability.
• Proven track record of technical leadership and architectural influence.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the mobile architecture and cross‑platform strategy, scaling KMM and Compose Multiplatform.

• Lead complex design decisions balancing speed, scalability, and user experience.
• Build and contribute to shared mobile platforms, libraries, and reusable components.
• Deliver high-impact features hands-on in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Drive best practices in mobile engineering, including modularisation, state management, testing, and performance.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver excellent experiences.
• Mentor engineers across teams and raise the technical bar.
• Influence engineering direction and platform vision across squads.
