Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer in New York, NY to design and build scalable mobile applications and backend services. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with product and design teams to shape the roadmap.

You will own end-to-end delivery, ensure code quality, and optimize performance while leveraging AI-enabled development workflows and end-to-end mobile CI/CD.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven track record of shipping high-impact products on schedule.
• Proficiency in system design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Mastery of mobile app constraints, including network connectivity, touch UX, and accessibility.
• Ability to architect and deliver performant and resilient mobile applications from scratch.
• Understanding of source code in any modern language.
• Deep expertise in either iOS or Android, with experience developing for the other.
• Strong product mindset and user-perspective thinking.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex technical concepts.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical projects.
• Cross-functional collaboration experience with non-technical stakeholders.
• Pragmatic problem-solving approach.
• Experience with Flutter, AI-assisted mobile development workflows, and end-to-end mobile CI/CD are nice to have

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of critical user-facing features and backend services.
• Own projects end to end, from ideation and technical design through deployment and post-launch maintenance.
• Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and business stakeholders to shape the product roadmap and translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Mentor and guide engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
• Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and set team code-quality standards.
• Break ambiguous, complex problems into actionable steps.
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks, production issues, and technical debt.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
• Leverage AI to increase software development velocity.
