Job summary

Waymo is seeking a senior ML/CV engineer to design and develop multi-sensor, multi-task models for dense scene understanding, including object detection and trajectory planning. You will build foundational libraries and scalable components to power model development, experiments, and deployment on hardware with careful latency and memory considerations.

The role is hybrid, reporting to a Staff Technical Lead Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent deep learning experience.
• 7+ years in Machine Learning and/or Computer Vision.
• Strong Python and C++ software engineering background; experience with ML frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of multi-sensor, multi-task architectures for scene understanding.
• Architect and develop libraries powering model development and experimentation.
• Design scalable core model components: encoders, fusion, backbones, memory blocks.
• Adapt SOTA ML tech to compute budgets, optimize latency, throughput, memory.
• Drive rapid prototyping with flexible pipelines for fast iteration and analysis.
