Job summary

Waymo is hiring a senior ML/CV engineer in Mountain View for the Waymo Driver project. You will design multi-sensor perception systems, advance object detection, occupancy prediction, and trajectory planning, while shaping scalable modeling libraries and pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent deep learning experience.
• 7+ years experience in ML and/or CV.
• Strong Python and C++ software engineering background.
• Experience with ML frameworks like PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of multi-sensor, multi-task models for dense scene understanding (object detection, occupancy, road understanding, trajectory planning).
• Architect and develop foundational modeling libraries powering model development and experimentation.
• Design scalable model components: sensor encoders, fusion modules, backbones, memory blocks.
• Optimize models for latency, throughput, and memory under compute budgets.
• Prototype pipelines and development environments for rapid iteration and integration of field advancements.
