Job summary

AppFolio is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design and ship voice and conversational AI agents within Realm-X. You will work at the intersection of LLM agent frameworks, real-time voice tech, and streaming infrastructure to scale experiences across our real estate customers.

You will collaborate with Product, Voice channel, and ML Platform teams to translate cutting-edge agent research into reliable, low-latency multi-channel solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and scaling web-based apps, SaaS preferred.
• Production AI agents for voice/text channels.
• Experience with pipelines and systems, not just models.
• Fast delivery with sound engineering judgment.
• Collaborative, low-ego, leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ship real-time voice/text agents and pipelines.
• Balance reasoning depth with latency in LLMs.
• Lead a pod of ML and platform engineers.
• Define KPIs and acceptance criteria for agent quality.
• Optimize voice latency and costs with SLMs.
