Job summary

AppFolio is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design and ship the next generation of voice and conversational AI agents within Realm-X. This role builds production voice and chat agent pipelines, bridging LangChain-based frameworks with real-time voice technology and streaming infrastructure.

You will work with Product, Voice channel, and ML Platform teams to translate cutting-edge research into reliable, low-latency, multi-channel experiences that scale across our customer base.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing and scaling web-based applications, preferably SaaS.
• Shipped production AI agents for voice/text channels.
• Experience with end-to-end agent pipelines and latency trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Architect and ship voice/text agent pipelines for real-time customer interactions.
• Balance reasoning depth with latency across LLMs and routing strategies.
• Lead a small pod of ML and platform engineers focusing on agent evaluation and observability.
• Define KPIs and acceptance criteria for agent quality in collaboration with Product and Voice teams.
