Job summary

AppFolio is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to own the ML strategy and execution for Realm-X Leasing Performer, shaping how it reasons, acts, and learns in production.

You'll work across Leasing Engineering, Voice & Agents, and Research ML to translate prototypes into scalable, reliable systems with strong observability and cost discipline, ensuring a robust, customer-facing leasing experience.

Qualifications

• Has built and supported production ML systems at scale.
• Experience leading architectural discussions and guiding technical decisions.
• Trained or fine-tuned language models end-to-end; comfortable with deep learning, evaluation, and inference.

Responsibilities

• Own the ML strategy for Leasing across products and align with leadership.
• Drive architecture for autonomous AI agents and production-grade ML systems.
• Translate research into shipped product features with clear evaluation metrics.
• Develop and maintain ML evaluation/instrumentation to validate improvements.
• Set standards and patterns for ML across the Leasing Engineering team.
