Job summary

Sowelo Consulting is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design and own core ML systems for a scalable AI platform. You will drive end-to-end projects from data curation to deployment, translating research into robust production solutions.

You will mentor peers, optimize architectures for latency, cost, reliability, and safety while collaborating with research, engineering, and product teams in a fully remote, international setup.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in a Machine Learning role.
• Experience with Python, PyTorch / JAX, GPU-based training and inference systems.
• Demonstrated experience building, deploying, and maintaining machine learning systems in real-world environments.
• Strong practical understanding of how modern ML models behave and fail in live production, and mitigating edge cases.
• Track record of writing clean, robust, production-grade code with an architectural mindset.
• High degree of self-direction and initiative, able to drive complex technical initiatives from concept to launch.
• Ability to absorb new concepts rapidly, communicate technical trade-offs clearly, and improve code/systems iteratively.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the core machine learning systems driving a proactive, forward-looking AI platform.
• Take complete end-to-end ownership of projects from data curation to evaluation, inference, and iteration.
• Translate cutting-edge research concepts into robust, reliable production systems.
• Leverage live production signals to troubleshoot model anomalies and bottlenecks.
• Drive fast-paced iteration: deploy systems, analyze real-world metrics, refine approaches.
• Collaborate with research, engineering, and product teams to translate milestones into user value.
• Mentor engineers, conduct reviews, and set high technical judgment standards.
• Optimize model architectures to balance latency, cost, reliability, and safety at scale.
