Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Senior ML Engineer for its Safety AI team. You design production ML APIs, build data flywheels, and optimize artifacts for cloud-scale deployment, collaborating with applied scientists, firmware, and platform engineers.

You’ll enable real-time alerts and safe model rollouts across millions of vehicles, while ensuring reliability and cost efficiency in production. This remote role supports US/Canada applicants.

Qualifications

• 6+ years as ML Engineer with production-model experience.
• Proficiency in C++, Golang, Java, Python or Scala.
• Experience deploying models with real customer feedback loops.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design Production ML APIs: reliable, low-latency APIs to integrate model outputs.
• Build Data Flywheels: scalable pipelines for iteration, backtesting and evaluation.
• Optimize & Serve Artifacts: productionize artifacts from scientists for workloads.
• Petabyte-Scale Operations: process high-volume camera/sensor data for model runs.
• Monitor & Maintain Rollout Health: track drift, precision/recall, latency in production.
• Cross-Functional System Integration: partner with firmware & platform teams for edge-to-cloud.
• Product Collaboration: translate safety requirements into scalable architectures.
• Champion Samsara culture: customer focus, long-term thinking, growth mindset, inclusion.
