Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Senior ML Engineer to own production ML APIs and data pipelines for Safety AI. You will design low-latency cloud services, integrate artifacts from applied scientists, and ensure robust, scalable systems at fleet scale.

The role demands 6+ years in ML engineering, strong coding skills across C++, Golang, Java, Python, or Scala, and experience with cloud-scale data processing. Remote US/Canada-based role with competitive rewards.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role, with a track record of shipping models in production.
• Strong proficiency in one or more common languages (e.g., C++, Golang, Java, Python, Scala).
• Proficiency with ML tools such as Ray/Ray Serve, MLflow, Grafana, PyTorch, Spark.
• Experience deploying and refining models using real customer feedback loops.
• Comfort with full-stack/backend development and understanding data structures and dependencies underneath models.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.

Responsibilities

• Design Production ML APIs: Architect and maintain reliable, low-latency APIs to integrate model outputs into cloud applications.
• Build Data Flywheels: Construct scalable pipelines to power model iteration, backtesting, shadow and online evaluation.
• Optimize & Serve Artifacts: Productionize model artifacts and optimize serving logic for platform workloads.
• Petabyte-Scale Operations: Process large camera/sensor data to support model execution and data curation.
• Monitor & Maintain Rollout Health: Track drift, precision/recall, and latency in production with closed-loop data feedback.
• Cross-Functional System Integration: Collaborate with firmware and platform teams to optimize edge-to-cloud execution.
• Product Collaboration: Translate safety requirements into scalable architectures.
• Champion Samsara’s cultural principles in a global scale.
