Lever, Inc. is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for ML Recall in a remote-first setup based in Germany.

You will shape the retrieval layer of a large-scale ecommerce search engine, building dense and sparse retrieval, query understanding, and multimodal search capabilities across languages and domains. You will own models end to end—from problem framing and experimentation to deployment, A/B testing, and production monitoring—while collaborating with multiple engineering and ML teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of production ML systems experience.
• Experience in search/retrieval or recommendations.
• Hands-on with transformer-based models and PyTorch.
• Strong Python skills and production ML practices.
• Experience with large-scale data processing tools like Spark and Airflow.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize modern search retrieval systems using dense and sparse models.
• Balance retrieval quality with strict latency requirements to surface relevant products within milliseconds.
• Develop end-to-end visual and multimodal search capabilities.
• Train, fine-tune, evaluate, deploy, and monitor deep learning models across products.
• Experiment with new model architectures and retrieval approaches with live traffic AB testing.
