Job summary

Etsy is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Search Ads team. You will build user-centric ML systems powering sponsored search for Etsy.com and the Etsy app, serving a global community of buyers and sellers.

You will work cross-functionally to deploy models, run experiments, and continuously improve relevance and engagement, with the role reporting to the Search Ads Engineering Manager in a hybrid work setup near Brooklyn.

Qualifications

• Proven track record applying statistical and ML techniques to real-world problems.
• Expertise in NLP, information retrieval, search, or recommendations.
• Experience training, deploying, monitoring, debugging and iterating production ML systems in ads or search.
• Ability to translate model requirements into deliverables from design to production.
• Strong code quality and maintainability with a focus on end users.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to communicate model capabilities.
• Apply latest ML advances to improve relevance and buyer engagement.
• Prototype, optimize, and productionize large-scale ML models powering ads.
• Run A/B experiments to validate model and pipeline efficiency.
• Partner with PMs, engineers, and analytics to measure impact and drive improvements.
