Job summary

Etsy, Inc. is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Search Ads team. You will build user-centric ML systems for a two-sided marketplace with 90+ million buyers and 6+ million sellers, focusing on retrieval, ranking, ad allocation, and user engagement modeling on Etsy.com and the Etsy app.

The role reports to the Engineering Manager and involves cross-functional collaboration, experimentation, and productionizing ML solutions to improve the ads experience.

Qualifications

• Track record applying ML techniques to real-world problems.
• Expert in NLP, information retrieval, search and/or recommendations, or deep learning.
• Experience training, deploying, monitoring, debugging production ML systems in search, recommendation, and/or ads.
• Ability to create requirements and lead team from design through to delivery.
• Write clean, testable code with maintainability in mind.
• Consider the impact of work on end users.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product engineering and communicate model capabilities to product managers.
• Apply latest ML advances to improve relevance and buyer ad engagement.
• Prototype, optimize, and productionize large-scale ML models to improve ads funnel.
• Conduct A/B experiments to validate ML model and pipeline efficiency.
• Partner with product managers, ML engineers, and analytics to measure and improve ads product.
• Additional duties as needed and in line with Etsy policies.
