Job summary

Tapestry, an Alphabet team building the AI-powered electric grid, is seeking a foundational architect to shape multi-year ML strategy, bridging AI research, physics of power grids, and production ML systems. You will design scalable machine learning architectures for grid planning, simulation, and asset intelligence at continental scale.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in CS, EE, applied math, or related quantitative field.
• 10+ years building, training, deploying large-scale ML systems in production with PyTorch/JAX/TF.
• 4+ years in grid modeling, simulation, state estimation, or power-system optimization.
• Proven track record architecting scalable, data-heavy systems.
• Experience mentoring senior technical leaders and aligning stakeholders.
• Think from first principles and communicate clearly across disciplines.
• Strong written and verbal communication across multidisciplinary audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap and system architecture for multimodal intelligence engines.
• Collaborate with ML leads, scientists, engineers, PMs, and utilities partners to translate grid data into actionable insights.
• Mentor engineers and establish production standards across teams.
• Advance AI architectures including physics-informed neural networks and agentic AI in production.
• Establish scalable architectural patterns and standards for ML systems.
• Shape long-term ML strategy through first-principles analysis.
