Tapestry in Mountain View, part of Alphabet, is hiring a senior architect to shape a multi-year ML strategy that bridges cutting-edge AI research, physics of large-scale grids, and production ML/AI systems for grid planning and operations.

You will own the technical roadmap and system architecture for multimodal intelligence engines, mentor engineers, set production standards, and collaborate with global utility partners to translate massive grid data into actionable insights that improve

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years building, training, and deploying large-scale ML systems in production with PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• 4+ years grid modeling, simulation, state estimation, or power-system optimization.
• Proven track record architecting systems handling massive datasets or high compute workloads.
• Experience collaborating across disciplines and mentoring senior technical leaders.
• Ability to reason from first principles and apply structured technical judgment.
• Strong written and verbal communication across multidisciplinary audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap and system architecture for multimodal intelligence engines.
• Partner with ML leads, Power Systems scientists, software engineers, and partners to translate grid data into actionable insights.
• Mentor senior engineers, establish production standards, and align stakeholders around architectural direction.
• Advance AI architectures including physics-informed networks and agentic AI for constrained energy infrastructure.
• Establish scalable patterns and standards for reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Shape long-term ML strategy through first-principles thinking and rigorous analysis.
