Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ, seeks an experienced Advanced Flight Avionics Engineer to lead hardware development for missile guidance systems. You will architect, analyze, and validate subsystem designs, supervise teams, and present technical results to government customers.

The role requires a DoD Secret clearance and US citizenship, with opportunities to mentor and travel as needed across programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in STEM and at least 8 years of flight avionics experience in electrical hardware, subsystems, systems engineering, requirements development or validation.
Advanced degree may substitute for experience: Master’s = 2 years, PhD = 4 years.
Active and transferable U.S. government security clearance and U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

Guide a team through hardware systems lifecycle including designs and analysis.
Architect new electronic systems and document subsystem requirements and test plans.
Perform peer reviews of designs as a subject matter expert.
Present to peers, management and government customers; conduct root-cause failure investigations.
Mentor and mentee within a missile systems culture; support multiple programs.
Travel as needed, including foreign travel; collaborate with customers and suppliers.
