Job summary

AeroVironment, based in California, seeks a Senior Performance Analysis Engineer to join the Huntsville, AL team. You will perform mission and system performance analyses for Ground-based Missile Defense (GMD) programs, using MATLAB and Python to build models, assess interceptor effectiveness, and produce clear technical reports for DoD leadership.

The role requires a 12+ year track record, an active SECRET+ clearance, and strong communication skills for briefs to government customers and senior

Qualifications

• Master's degree in STEM fields
• 12+ years of related professional experience
• Active security clearance (SECRET or above)
• Experience supporting MDA GMD programs
• Advanced MATLAB proficiency including model development and visualization
• Proficiency with Python and scientific libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib)
• Experience evaluating missile defense engagement and system performance
• Strong statistical analysis, numerical methods, optimization, and simulation-based assessment
• Ability to communicate analyses to government customers and senior leadership

Responsibilities

• Perform performance analyses of GMD capabilities using modeling and simulation.
• Develop methodologies to evaluate system effectiveness and engagement outcomes.
• Design, develop, and maintain analytical tools using MATLAB and Python.
• Conduct Monte Carlo simulations and trade-space assessments.
• Analyze large missile-defense datasets to identify trends.
• Create technical reports and data visualizations for leadership.
• Collaborate with engineers, analytics teams, and SMEs on metrics.
• Support design reviews and customer briefings.
• Maintain documentation of modeling assumptions.
