Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to lead initiatives focused on operational efficiency and technology integration within mining facilities near Rustenburg, North West. You will drive end-to-end delivery of process improvements, new equipment implementations, and digital transformation across the mining value chain.

The role requires 8+ years of project management with at least 5 years in mining or heavy industry, plus a degree in a relevant engineering field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Advanced degree or PMP certification is desirable.
• 8+ years of project management experience; at least 5 years in mining/heavy industry.
• Projects with budgets exceeding R40 million; operational upgrades or tech implementations.
• Strong understanding of mining processes, equipment and challenges.
• Proven leadership to manage technical and non-technical teams.
• Proficiency with project management software (MS Project / Asana) and data analysis tools.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Hybrid work model with on-site presence in Rustenburg as required.

Responsibilities

• Define project scope, objectives and deliverables aligned with operational improvement goals in mining.
• Develop detailed project plans with timelines, budgets and risk assessments for mining operations.
• Manage execution, monitor progress, quality and budget adherence.
• Lead cross-functional teams including engineers, geologists, operations staff and contractors.
• Implement risk management to identify and mitigate delivery issues.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and mining regulations in North West.
• Facilitate clear communication among stakeholders including senior management and suppliers.
• Oversee integration of new technologies and processes into mining operations.
• Conduct post-project evaluations to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
