A prominent mining conglomerate is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Law Specialist to join their legal department, remotely serving their operations that include significant interests near Welkom, Free State . This crucial role will provide expert legal guidance on all aspects of mining law, including exploration, mining rights, environmental compliance, and regulatory affairs. Key Responsibilities

• Review and draft agreements related to exploration, joint ventures, and mining operations.
• Represent the company in negotiations with government authorities and stakeholders regarding mining regulations.
• Conduct legal due diligence for potential mining acquisitions and investments.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 9 years of focused experience in mining law and natural resources.
• Extensive knowledge of South African mining legislation, including the MPRDA and National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
• Proven experience advising on exploration, mining rights, and mining rehabilitation.
• Strong understanding of ESG principles and their application in the mining sector.
• Excellent negotiation and drafting skills, particularly in complex contractual agreements.
