Job summary

KBR is seeking a Strategic Interfaces Systems Engineer in El Segundo, CA to develop and manage Interface Control Documents for cross-system interfaces between space and ground segments. You will own ICDs, coordinate with CM for ERBs/CCBs, and drive issue resolution across engineering teams.

Required are a Secret clearance, 8+ years in satellite systems or aerospace, and DoD program experience. Strong writing, communication, and MBSE tool familiarity are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in satellite systems, spacecraft development, or aerospace engineering.
• 5 years' experience working on DoD programs.
• Direct experience developing or managing Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
• Strong familiarity with spacecraft subsystems (payloads, RF, power, GNC, thermal, propulsion).
• Ability to read and create schematics, interface diagrams, and data structures.
• Experience with systems engineering tools (DOORS, Cameo).
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, author, and maintain ICDs for cross-system interfaces.
• Coordinate inputs, adjudicate comments, and maintain authoritative ICD baseline.
• Work with Configuration Management for ERBs and CCBs.
• Develop interface diagrams, data dictionaries, message formats, telemetry mappings.
• Identify interface risks and drive issue resolution across teams.
• Support system integration and test with authoritative documentation.
• Ensure documentation complies with standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide SME review to Prime contract Change Proposals.
• Coordinate Interface Working Groups and stakeholder communications.
• Ensure models align with ICDs and cybersecurity baselines.
