Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Senior Accountant, Mill Accounting, to support a broad portfolio of mill operations and close processes. You will prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and analyses, partnering with mill finance, operations, and corporate teams to ensure accurate financial reporting under US GAAP.

Responsibilities include period-end close, account reconciliations, process improvements, and maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• 3+ years accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing/mill environment.
• Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close deliverables.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls; SOX experience preferred.
• ERP systems such as SAP and/or JD Edwards; familiarity with BlackLine, Alteryx, or BI tools is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare recurring and nonrecurring journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and schedules.
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items and maintain close calendars.
• Perform period-end cutoff procedures and ensure accurate activity.
• Analyze balances, prepare variance analyses and management reports.
• Support SOX controls and internal/external audit requests.
