Job summary

Smurfit Westrock (NYSE:SW) in Georgia seeks a Senior Accountant in Mill Accounting to support journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close for mill operations. You will prepare analyses, ensure accuracy, and document controls in line with US GAAP.

You will collaborate with mill finance, operations, supply chain and FP&A to provide timely reporting, perform variance analysis, and assist with SOX compliance and policy documentation. Experience with SAP/JD Edwards is valued.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or mills.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls; SOX experience preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and JD Edwards; familiarity with BlackLine/Alteryx/BI tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Close, journal entries and reconciliations with complete supporting documentation.
• Prepare period-end cutoffs, account analyses, and variance explanations.
• Perform financial analysis and reporting for mill operations and inventories.
• Support SOX controls, audits, and policy documentation.
• Collaborate with mill finance, operations, and FP&A; drive process improvements.
