Job summary

Smurfit Westrock, a leader in sustainable packaging, is seeking a Manager, Accounting - Mills to oversee a broad portfolio of mill accounting processes and ensure accurate financial reporting. The role collaborates with mill finance, operations, supply chain, and corporate teams to drive efficiency, control, and continuous improvement across the close, reporting, and policy execution.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in manufacturing accounting, a CPA or equivalent certification, and strong U.S.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing or mill environment.
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks, including SOX.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and/or JD Edwards; familiarity with BlackLine, Alteryx, or BI tools is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals responsible for assigned mill accounting processes.
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations and close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting for mill accounting areas in compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
• Maintain and monitor SOX controls and coordinate with internal/external audits as needed.
• Drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement across mill accounting workflows.
