Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc is seeking a Manager, Accounting - Mills to lead a team of accounting professionals across mill operations. The role focuses on accuracy, controls, and timely financial results within a broad portfolio including inventory, assets, revenue, and cost of goods sold.

The position emphasizes process standardization, automation, and continuous improvement, partnering with mill finance, operations, and corporate accounting to implement best practices and ensure compliance with U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or mill environment.
• 2+ years of experience managing or supervising an accounting team.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks including SOX.
• Proclivity to explore AI solutions for autonomous transaction support and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals responsible for assigned mill accounting processes.
• Provide coaching, performance management, and cross-functional development.
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations focusing on accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
• Partner with senior leadership to communicate financial results, risks, and improvements.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities and related reporting.
• Maintain internal controls and coordinate responses to audits.
