Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is hiring a Senior Accountant in North America Mills Accounting to support a broad portfolio across mill operations. You will prepare journal entries, reconciliations, analyses, and schedules for inventory, freight, warehousing, pricing and revenue, fixed assets, and maintenance under US GAAP.

You will collaborate with mill finance, operations, supply chain, and corporate teams to ensure timely financial reporting, with a focus on accuracy and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
• 3+ years of accounting experience in manufacturing or mill environments.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.

Responsibilities

• Prepare recurring and nonrecurring journal entries with documentation.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Investigate reconciling items and escalate aged matters as needed.
• Perform period-end cutoff procedures and ensure accuracy of activity.
• Maintain close calendars and workpapers in accordance with deadlines.
• Support review processes with clear explanations and documentation.
• Analyze balances, trends, and variances for management reporting.
• Prepare schedules and respond to internal/external audit requests.
