Job summary

Westfall Technik, LLC in Riverside, CA, seeks a Metrologist to perform dimensional and functional inspections per drawings and ASME Y14.5. You will ensure accurate measurement methods, reliable data, and calibration of metrology equipment while partnering with Quality and Process Engineering teams.

You will develop inspection strategies, interpret drawings, and perform FAI and layout inspections, with a focus on data integrity and process validation support.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience as a Metrology inspector with increasing levels of responsibility.
• 3-5 years’ experience in plastic injection molding.
• Experience with CMM’s and Optical OGP Smart scope’s and all hand held metrology tools such as micrometers, calipers, no/no-go gages, bore gages, height stands, etc.
• Working knowledge of PCDMIS, Measure Mind 3D and MCOSMOS.
• Blueprint reading, including knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ANSI Y14.5.
• Good understanding of Cosmetic defects in plastics and Visual inspections.
• Understands theory and uses of SPC, SQC and process capability studies.
• Experience in the IQ, OQ, PQ Validation process
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Computer literate (Microsoft Excel, Word, SPC program, etc.). Minitab experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Program and operate tactile CMMs and optical systems (OGP/SmartScope Flash 500).
• Develop and optimize measurement methodologies and inspection strategies.
• Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) and layout inspections.
• Maintain calibration and preventive maintenance schedules for inspection equipment.
• Coordinate calibration with external vendors and ensure data integrity.
• Perform Gage R&R and process capability studies; analyze measurement data for trends and out-of-spec conditions.
• Support process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) and engineering studies.
• Train QC personnel on measurement techniques and GD&T.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on quality issues and audits.
• Document deviations and maintain organized records for inspection data.
