Carpenter Technology Corporation is seeking a Senior Metallurgist for Premium Melting to support VIM, ESR and VAR operations. You will analyze non-conforming material, apply statistics to problem-solving, and drive process improvements across melts.

Travel to customer sites may be required, with collaboration across operations, R&D, and purchasing. The role demands a bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science and at least 4 years of relevant experience, plus strong

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or related field required.
• 4 years of relevant work experience required.
• Specialized knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods and practices.
• Specialized knowledge of metallurgical and production equipment; awareness of newest technologies.
• Understanding of statistics, Six Sigma and BPI practices.
• Experience initiating programs and projects, driving results on schedule, and mitigating risks.
• Ability to lead and mentor internal resources and work on cross-functional teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Make disposition decisions for referred, non-conforming and off-standard material.
• Apply statistical methods to solve problems and design experiments.
• Ensure quality of melts through melt record review and adherence to procedures.
• Participate in new procedure development and process optimization; establish critical process variables and tests.
• Improve yield, productivity and cost reductions of melt operations.
• Evaluate and qualify new raw material and refractory sources; review specifications for new products.
• Interact with operations, technical, R&D, purchasing and quality personnel; support customer audits.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
