Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation is seeking a Senior Metallurgist for Premium Melting (VIM, ESR, VAR) to provide technical support to the melt shop and customers. This role emphasizes disposition of non-conforming material, statistical problem-solving and collaboration across functions.

The position calls for a metallurgical expert with 4+ years of experience, strong communication, and the ability to drive yield, productivity and cost reductions in a high-performance environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
• 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Strong knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods and practices.
• Experience with statistics, Six Sigma and process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Dispo of non-conforming material from the melt shop.
• Apply statistics to solve problems and design experiments.
• Ensure melt quality via record review and adherence to procedures.
• Drive process optimization and variation reduction.
• Improve yield, productivity and cost efficiency of melt operations.
• Collaborate with operations, technical, R&D, purchasing and quality teams.
• Travel as needed and support customer audits.
