Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead jobsite operations in Blacksburg, VA. You will uphold safety and quality standards while driving projects to completion on commercial HVAC and plumbing installations.

You will develop schedules, coordinate field crews and subcontractors, manage costs, and maintain thorough project documentation. Strong leadership, communication, and a commitment to safety are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supervising commercial construction projects.
• (HVAC, Plumbing, or MEP strongly preferred)
• Proven ability to manage crews and jobsite operations.
• Strong knowledge of scheduling, sequencing, and cost control.
• OSHA 30 preferred (or a demonstrated commitment to safety).
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily jobsite operations focusing on safety, quality, and productivity.
• Develop and maintain project schedules to meet milestones and deadlines.
• Support manpower planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Lead projects from startup through closeout, coordinating sequencing.
• Represent VMG in meetings with clients, general contractors, and project partners.
• Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections.
• Enforce OSHA and VMG safety policies.
• Identify, report, and address hazards, incidents, and near misses.
• Ensure work complies with plans and quality standards.
• Maintain equipment and company vehicles.
• Complete daily reports, time sheets, and logs.
• Track costs, invoices, and subcontractor work.
• Lead and coordinate field crews and subcontractors.
• Foster accountability and a team-oriented culture.
