Job summary

Southland Industries in Boise, Idaho, seeks an experienced engineering lead to guide HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection projects from concept through design/build and rehabilitation. You will evaluate specifications and perform complex calculations, providing ongoing technical guidance to resolve issues.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a PE license, and at least five years of experience with systems design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
• PE License required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering.
• Strong knowledge of applicable systems design (fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing).
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including CADD and MS Office (Excel).

Responsibilities

• Lead, evaluate, design, and engineer projects and systems to specification on new design/build or rehabilitation projects.
• Performs complex calculations, drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or other systems.
• Develops standards, methods, and procedures for reviewing, evaluating and inspecting designs.
• Determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and identify efficient solutions.
• Directs and mentors less-experienced engineers on projects; provides guidance on designs and technical issues.
• Writes technical narratives in response to RFIs.
