Job summary

Southland Industries in Garden Grove seeks an experienced engineer to lead, evaluate, design, and engineer projects and systems to specification on design/build and rehabilitation efforts. You will provide ongoing technical guidance and resolve engineering issues as needed.

Responsibilities include conceptual design, leading project design meetings, preparing complex redline layouts for estimating, performing advanced calculations, conducting site inspections, and supervising junior engineers on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• PE License required.
• 8+ years of experience, including lead experience.
• Excellent knowledge of applicable systems design (fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, etc.).
• Ability to read complex mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of stakeholders.
• Strong public speaking/presentation skills.
• Excellent computer skills including CADD and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead, evaluate, design, and engineer projects and systems to specification on design/build and rehabilitation projects.
• Provide ongoing technical guidance and issue resolution as needed.
• Serve as design professional at project team design meetings.
• Prepare complex preliminary redline designs for estimating.
• Perform advanced calculations (heating/cooling loads, sizing, friction/hydraulic calculations).
• Conduct site inspections and resolve design issues during construction.
• Supervise less-experienced engineers in HVAC, fire protection, or other system design; document production for projects.
