Job summary

XL Construction seeks an experienced MEP Coordinator to partner with the Project Manager and Superintendent for planning and daily execution of complex HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, and fire life safety systems. You will lead MEP coordination meetings from concept design to final inspections, and guide the MEP team to project success.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years in construction with a significant focus on MEP systems.
• Expertise in one or more MEP trades/disciplines.
• Ability to read ITBs and contract drawings to understand systems (pre requisite).
• Deep knowledge of MEPF procurement and startup information in schedules.
• Experience in science/tech, mission critical, corporate office, education or healthcare construction preferred.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and option evaluation.
• Solid understanding of project management from technical and business perspectives.
• Familiarity with building permit approvals and local codes.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Navisworks, Primavera, Egnyte, BlueBeam, Procore, etc.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Preconstruction design review and constructability coordination.
• Lead MEP coordination meetings from concept through inspections.
• Guide MEP and Construction Technology teams with goal setting and training.
• Troubleshoot field installation and startup challenges across disciplines.
• Train staff on advanced MEP systems and assist design teams with options analysis.
• Plan buyout timing considering costs and schedule impacts of MEP systems.
• Develop and manage MEP field QA/QC and punchlist programs.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Review design and write MEP ITBs for plan/spec jobs.
• Ensure partners align with clients and architectural teams; support design team problem solving.
• Own scheduling and execution of startup and commissioning activities.
• Mentor Project Engineers.
