Job summary

American Municipal Power, Inc. seeks a Senior Manager of Member Training (Lineworker) to lead safety training programs at the Member Training Center in Columbus, OH. This role requires a journeyman lineworker with leadership or safety experience and involves content creation, program management, and on-site/off-site training coordination.

Hybrid work option may be available; travel up to 30% within AMP's footprint. Reports to the Senior Director of Member Training and Safety; non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; two-year degree in a safety related field preferred; minimum 5 years’ experience with safety programs and prior supervisory experience.
• Electric industry experience with knowledge of Safety/OSHA rules and NFPA 70E; certified journeyman lineworker with 7 years’ experience and 3 years in management or safety.
• Prev. experience with municipal electric systems is desired.
• CSP or LSP is preferred.
• OSHA 500 Outreach Instructor desired or ability to obtain within 36 months.
• Must be CPR/First Aid/Forklift/Flagger instructor or obtain certification within 12 months.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, conduct and evaluate member training at the Member Training Center with emphasis on lineworker trade.
• Lead content creation (lesson plans), curricula and organize Lineworker Training, apprenticeship, refreshers and regional meetings.
• Coordinate with members and provide excellent customer service, scheduling and resource materials for safety meetings.
• Identify workplace hazards through safety inspections and accident reports; develop Health and Safety Plans and written safety manuals.
• Maintain knowledge of current safety/ OSHA topics and APPA safety standards.
• Assist on a limited basis with hands-on distribution work (15kV or less) and operate from a bucket when needed; travel 30%.
• Serve as back-up on APPA safety and mutual aid committees for AMP.
• Other duties as assigned.
